Couples Therapy
First, we will talk through the important parts of your relationship history and clearly identify the concerns and goals of each partner. This allows us to have a clear picture of where you’re at and a way to track your progress over time.
The therapy process itself focuses on identifying communication patterns and exploring the underlying relationship issues that are driving them. With my help, we will take conversations that usually go bad and slow them down, giving you the space to experiment and build new ways of relating. Like learning anything new, it is a process that takes time and effort.
I am there for you along the way providing encouragement, accountability and guidance until you have the confidence to do it on your own.
How Couples Therapy Works
Imagine Having a Relationship You Love
What would it be like to have a loving relationship, where you both feel understood and supported?
Instead of living in a conflict zone, imagine your home being a place of peace and comfort. With the ability to talk things through, you’re able to face day-to-day life together as a team.
When your relationship is going well, all the other aspects of your life go better too. Suddenly you have more of yourself to give to work, friends and family.
Be proud of who you are as a person and as a couple. Imagine being able to say, “my relationship is great!” and actually mean it.
-
Have the companionship you long for
-
Improve communication breaking out of old habits and endless cycles that don’t go anywhere
-
Restore trust and work together to build a life you’re proud of
-
Have a satisfying sex life where you feel safe and desired
With Couples Counseling, You Will…
You’ve found books, watched videos, gotten input from friends and family but it hasn’t benefited the relationship — between “communication hacks” and one-sided support, advice from the outside has just fallen flat.
You’ve tried to work on yourself to be a better partner, you keep recommitting to try again/try harder, but you can’t get any traction.
You’ve Tried To Fix Your Relationship And It Hasn’t Worked
Neither of you feels heard, seen, or cared for. It's hard to open up to somebody about things if it always turns into some type of disagreement. Instead of being connected, you feel lonely. You find yourself questioning, “Why isn’t our relationship working if we love each other so much?”
Do any of the following sound familiar?
-
You’re having difficulty communicating your wants and needs, you get stuck in the same arguments over and over.
-
You’re finding it challenging to talk about sex and don’t know how to communicate your desires, leaving you feeling rejected, undesired, or frustrated.
-
You want to talk about the actual challenges in your relationship like parenting or money but can’t without it turning into a fight.
-
You feel like you’ve lost yourself in the relationship, always focusing on responsibilities or fulfilling expectations.
